Vinodog 1 still has her 'funny half-hours' when she springs about like a dog half her age, zipping through the shrubbery and glancing back at me now and again, as if she is challenging me to chase her. Of course, she is exhausted afterwards. Sometimes, she forgets what she began barking about and just keeps barking until I distract her with a dog biscuit. And I didn't think it was possible, but she has become even more attached to me: she'll pace about, in a panic and wide-eyed, looking for me if I leave the room. She is a great companion.
Happy birthday V1!

One of the few mutts I've ever liked, she is a good old girl.
Thud: She is. She is passed out right now beside me, it's too warm outside...her internal a/c unit is not as efficient as it used to be.
Must be a great life for the old girl being out in the fresh air all the time.
She's an inspiration.
This is so adorable.. I have two English Springers. One is a year and the other is turning 14. Poor girl.. she's hard of hearing and I think senility is setting in. She has a bum leg and has lost some of her muscle over the years so she's tires easily. I wish these little creatures had a longer life expectancy.
Glad she's healthy and you can tell in her eyes she's a happy girl and well loved.

Happy birthday V-1!
It is also Mondesi's (our Llewellin Setter) birthday, she is thirteen, and almost at the 'end', but still aides me in relaxing and imparting empathy.
ALW: Yes, in my next life I want to come back as a Napa-dog, owned by me of course.
Tomasso: I really think old dogs are an inspiration...they don't moan and complain all the time about aches and pains.
Leslie: Welcome to Vinsanity. Your blog is gorgeous to look at.
Same here; V1 has arthritis, loss of muscle tone, sleeps a lot, is a little senile...but the spirit is still there. I wish she could stay with me forever and, yes, she is well loved.
NHW: It's sad when they get old isn't it, but they manage it in a very dignified way...unlike most humans!!!
VG,
I once had a dog that lived to almost 18 years, and she was never sick a day in her life. She had a good life, and never complained when the end approached. Her old age infirmities seemed harder for us to take. It is an inspiration to observe.
Tomasso: If I could have V1 for 3 more years....sigh....
It can be very painful watching your pet slow down... but 15 is a great age (and of course, she's still with us!). I can only imagine what love and fun she has enjoyed from Huyton's answer to Doris Day (referring to your love of dogs as opposed to your 'love' of Rock Hudson). Gorgeous pic too!
Mr Ray: Welcome to Vinsanity!
It is sad, but she's not a gonner yet!
I quite like the idea of being Huyton's Doris Day...I just see myself belting out 'Secret Love' in front of Asda. And as for Mr. Hudson he was a very good looking fella, but the fact remains that Rock just didn't roll my way!
