Do not disturb.

Seriously, who'd want to? Not me.
It looks like the European Grapevine Moth is being held at bay; so far, so good.
This insect trap, set by Napa County, seems to have captured nothing more egregious than a particular species of Cicadellidae and some Diptera. Thank goodness...Vinoland may survive the EGVM onslaught.

As someone who gets irritated by an invading fly or wasp, I just cannot conceive how you must feel about the threat to your 'life' from an army of moths (which I expect were French....). Fingers crossed for you.

The EGVM is most definitely a pest of the highest order. And yes Affer, I bet they are French!
In the mail today, there is a postcard from the Napa County Agricultural Commissioner urging Napans to remove all fruit and flowers from their vines and have it all composted, or spray with an organic insecticide such as BT or spinosad. Drastic measures to ensure this pest does not gain a foothold here.

Oh, I don't think you catch the grapevine moth in the yellow sticky trap (those are good for sharpshooters, etc.). For the moth, you use one of the red triangle tent traps, and insert a little moth hormone mojo, and that catches them. Did you have some of that moth mojo in your ear last year that caused the moth to fly into your ear and into your brain? Be well.

Craig, the red triangle is just out of the shot...and I'm on my 3rd one in my vineyard (mojo looks like a grey wire-cap...all have been EGVM free.
