Here he is, Vinomaker...making vino. Actually, he is just racking it; pumping the wine out of the barrel, cleaning the barrel and putting the wine back into the barrel. It's not a fun job but it is essential. We were at it all day, it was tiring but there are worse things you could do on a Sunday than stand around and smell great wine (in this case a Syrah, grown by me), for 7 hours.
I had a beer with dinner!

just like a good mexistani hey?
"Pouchy" says now that he's 50 in dog years he doesn't like racking and he finds it's not necessary. He likes taking the wine from press into a storage container, letting it settle for 3 weeks or so, and then racking into the barrel. No more racking after that. The wines are tasting delicious. Is he just being a lazy dog, or is he on to something?
I'd like to trust the dog...they know things we don't!
Suddenly, I'm incredibly thirsty for a lovely red wine!
Phlegmfatale I wish I could share a glass with you.
