I had bought this bottle of wine for Thud a couple of Christmases ago. Actually, I bought three bottles for him. After last night he only has one remaining, (I do like to help out my dear brother by depleting his wine reserves when I am home). And seeing as it was a Christmas present I was a little disappointed at the state of the label. Whilst the main label looked fine, there just happened to be a whole extra label concertinaed to the side. Now, of course, a mishap in the labeling process would not have a deleterious effect on the taste of the wine, but this was a gift and I'm a little shocked that the folks at Domaine of the Bee would have chosen this particular bottle to send with the other two. Just saying.

NHW: Obviously high alcohol happens before the winemaking process begins, in the vineyard, I was just attempting to group together all the things that can make some wines cumbersome and lacking in finesse.

Oh, wait till I get around to reviewing that Merlot I have with 17% ABV! Yikes!
NHW: Absolutely, high alcohol definitely equates to lack of finesse in my opinion.
A 17% Merlot? Good luck with that one!
Hi Vinogirl - thanks for the review, and I'm glad our wine opened out in the end. It is a bit shy, which is ironic given it is such a big beast, and sometimes needs to be coaxed out of the bottle.
I am very sorry about the scrumpled label - and it is very rare that such a bottle should even get into the case, let alone be picked as a gift - can we send you a fresh bottle by way of apology? (please email us your address), and I'll ask our warehouse-keeper to avoid drinking at lunchtime in future....

Justin, the last one was good and so I have high hopes for the new one plus any future buys from you. Much to my shame my nickname comes from my sister vinogirl as in my younger years I was rather fast with my fists and that's the noise she associated with me when she saw me out and about in liverpools nightclubs.....sad but true!
