Like clockwork...
...the vineyard crew were out pre-pruning the Far Niente Chardonnay vineyard near Vinoland today. Although a week earlier than last year, I have to take my hat off to their head viticulturist for maintaining a very tight vineyard operations schedule...if only I were so organised!

Given what I am surrounded by, I am finding these last two pics-and-posts very trying. Serried ranks of Brussels Sprouts just don't have the same magic....
Affer,
You can duplicate the magic if you hold up your Brussels Sprouts with posts and trellis!
Affer, Brussel Sprouts are not an unattractive plant...especially when you visualise their 'fruit' sautéed in a pan with panchetta and a healthy dollop of prepared horseradish. Much like the fruit of the vine is much better when made into wine and consumed with aforementioned sprouts. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Thomas, maybe you can market that idea; little knee high trellising, lighter gauge wires...
...and knee pads for the photographer to get that row shot!
...or stand in a muddy ditch, being pulled in two different directions by two over enthusiastic Vinodogs, whilst trying to get the shot.
Love the idea of sprouts with pancetta and horseradish.
Now. Can you answer a question for me. Why does good chardonnay bring so many women out in a rash on their necks and chests? I see it time and time again - and it makes my sister wheezy.
WH: She may be allergic to sulfites, but truly only about 0.01% of the population are...does she have the same reaction with dried fruits, cured meats etc?
The solution - drink more red!
Vinoland is a very pretty lady - she never takes a bad photo, does she? (sssh! If there are any unflattering angles, we're happier off not knowing!)
