The Italian Job.

It's a tough job, but somebody had to do it.  Just joking, it was lots of fun showing these four lads around TWWIAGE this afternoon.  Giovanni Arcari (winemaker and blogger), Jeremy Parzen (aka Do Bianchi, blogger, food and wine historian, Italian translator and rock musician), Nico Danesi and Andrea Rudelli (both Franciacorta winemakers) were a joy to host.  A quick couple of beers in downtown Napa at Norman Rose Tavern, then a really quick glass of wine in Vinoland, and they were off over to Sonoma.  Lots of fun.
Happy solstice.  Grazie e buona notte.

VG: All the stories behind this story must be so much fun too; better stories than the "NOSE" :-)

NHW: Yes. Three real winemakers (of sparkling Franciacorta) and one bona fide wine writer trumps bad writing (with no editing), and silly plot devices, any day.

I started NOSE (thanks Dennis. There's something in the mail to you).

I started NOSE, but may not finish it. Don't like it when I can feel the writer manipulating me, and the references to wine jingo drives me nuts.

Also, the plot, such as there is one, lacks credibility for a variety of reasons.

Thomas: I totally agree with you!

Thud: Yea, that's about as much Italian as I know too, except for gelato of course.

Tomasso: It's quite dreadful isn't it? I think the concept behind the plot is good, but what the author does with it, and the actual writing, isn't.

NHW: Obviously, you finished it then? Now go treat yourself to a good book :)

VG: The Taylor book is scheduled for early 2015 release...the next book is out this coming autumn, it's a celebration of the historical agricultural bounty of the Finger Lakes.

These will be my last historical texts. Too much work, not enough money, and little in the way of success...

I'm off to Brooklyn for a few days to interview some friends for the next book I want to write, about how we grew up in that place together and managed to escape in our own directions.

Tomasso: So now I'm looking forward to your next 3 books. Phew!
"Escape" from Brooklyn? Was home that bad?

Vinogirl, that was such a blast. Thank you so much. Hoping to get back soon. I LOVE that photo (*YMCA*). ;)

2B: Glad I was able to show you around TWWIAGE and my little corner of Eden, Vinoland.
