It's that time of year again. How time flies. Actually, veraison in the Pinot grigio vines is a little ahead of schedule this year. But whose schedule? That of Mother Nature I would suppose. The Napa Valley has been experiencing a pretty nice growing season thus far for 2013. I have been enjoying this pleasantly warm summer, so I don't see why the grapevines should be any different. Thank you, ma'am.

Vingirl, so what's the PSI in them-there bursting sacs?
They are beautiful, but they appear so swollen as to burst, or maybe just float away;-)
NHW: I don't think the psi is very high :) I think the botanical word you are looking for, to describe their swollen appearance, is 'turgid'. The berries are very hard right now, but will progressively become softer (juicy) and sweeter.
Been more than warm here, too.
I understand that parts of Northern California are expecting an Aug 1 harvest beginning date. True?
Tomasso: I heard, at the NVSVA meeting the other night, that Mumm are bringing in their first grapes (don't know if it's Chard or Pinot) on the 29th!
