Another great Finger Lakes wine - a 2008 Red Tail Ridge Dry Riesling. Very tasty; lovely citrus notes (mainly lime), a very appealing minerality, and a zesty acidity that reminded me of the Lamoreaux Landing I had recently, but even nicer. Better still, it's available in my local wine shop: no hunting online necessary.

Riesling hunting.
Another great Finger Lakes wine - a 2008 Red Tail Ridge Dry Riesling. As Charlie Olken recently told me--it would be nice if West Coast producers could be as consistently spot on with Riesling as the Finger Lakes is.
What troubles me is that the quality is there, and the recognition has been building, but the region remains a fourth cousin in the wine world.
At the same time, predictions for over a decade that Riesling will be the next big thing in U.S. wine consumption seem not to want to come to fruition, which is good in a way, as it keeps the price in check.
When you make the trip east, I shall help you discover the 100-plus Riesling producers here.
If they are of the quality of the two most recent Rieslings that I have tried I look forward to it.
Sounds good. I've been wanting to try one for a long time. Have never seen a NY wine of any kind in a shop here in the UK. Pity.
Cesar: As long as Blighty treats California as the "fourth cousin in the wine world" you certainly have no chance of getting a NY Riesling in Albion!
