Rain and an earthquake.

On my recent mini-vacation with my family, we all laughed when it rained during our stay in Utah.  We chuckled when it sprinkled on us whilst we were swimming in our hotel's pool in Las Vegas.  Two of the hottest places I have ever visited and it rained while I was there, funny.
I'm not laughing now.  It started to rain at 10 p.m. last night and continued to rain over night - and showers are forecast for all of today.  What?  Rain in August is very unusual here.  And then, this morning, at 5.40 a.m. there was an earthquake (don't know how strong yet, but it wasn't much).
Now, I can't really hold my dear brother Thud responsible for the earthquake, as California has earthquakes all the time, but the rain in Utah, Las Vegas and August in Napa?  You bet I'm holding him responsible.  In fact, I'm going to start calling him Rainmaker.

What can I say? I'm cursed with a dark disposition and a feckin big raincloud.

The spirit of Thud must be hanging over the Finger Lakes region. We have had little but rain all summer, if you can call this summer, and the rain has been of Biblical proportions, inches by the hour.

More like a Monsoon-maker! Eek!The weather has been strange in this part of Texas this summer. We've been in stage V drought for years and this summer has suddenly been markedly cooler (like 90 degrees instead of 110-- "fetch me my parka, Jeeves") and lots of rain, though not enough to bring us out of drought status. Strange days, indeed. Most peculiar.

Phlegmfatale, I've had to hire a lifeguard so I can walk across my front lawn and feel secure.

You should see what this season has done to what I used to refer to as my extensive garden...

Thomas...say hello to my life.

Thud, Tomasso and Phlemmy: Mother Nature continues to be fickle. We have had a beautiful summer so far, and have a lot more warm weather to go, so I'm not complaining (even if the humidity does make my hair horribly curly).
