Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Lunar New Year!
Once again, deprived of the opportunity to celebrate Chinese New Year in any meaningful way (read here, eat copious amounts of English Chinese food), I improvised by whipping up a batch of Chinese Five Spice Brownie Cookies.  Paired nicely, I must say, with a glass of Napa Valley Syrah (Black Cat Vineyard) all of a sudden I felt quite festive. Yum!
I digress.
Gung hei fat choi to you all!

Cookies with red wine! Next thing you know, you'll be telling us to eat chocolate with red wine, and then you'll get a ton of nasty comments form wine writers who know better.

Vinogirl, sounds good to me.
Thomas has tongue-in-cheek!
If I could say anything that would receive "tons of nasty comments" I think I would write it, but few of us have that kind of power.

Well, "ton" may be a "heavy"-handed reference...

To you too! Must get some decent Chinese food for tonight. I love the black mushroom and chicken soup they do at Shin Yua here in Oakland

Tomasso: Those kind of wine writers wouldn't waste their time on my blog, thank goodness!
The cookies are still fab with Syrah!

NHW: Best food and wine pairing I've had in a while :)

Thud: I look forward to a good Tai Pan visit in May :)

ALW: Not heard of Shin Yua, but the soup sounds good.
