Chilly 2.
It was freezing again this morning, but it made for a very beautiful drive to work. The Napa Valley's grapevines have mostly dropped all of their leaves by now, a result of the strong breezes we had at the end of last week. However, the leaves on the vines in the Screaming Eagle vineyard, though uniformly brown and crispy, seem to be hanging on for dear life. Or perhaps they are just competing with the fabulous autumn colours of the Bradford Pear trees (Pyrus calleryiana) that line the perimeter of the vineyard's pond.

Maybe Screaming Eagle gives new meaning to "hang time."
23 here tonight and dropping.
Our rain today turned to heavy, wet snow--the first of the season here...four months to go!
By January, 29 F in the Finger Lakes will feel like Hawaii.
Beautiful but it doesn't look that cold to me. We know all about cold in The Midlands...
Thomas: Another wind event will finish them off. How's the snow?
Thud: Brrr!
WH: Well, it was pretty cold overnight, and in the morning, but the afternoons have been delightful.
