Autumn leaves.

This is the last in my mini-series of posts about autumn colours.
There aren't too many deciduous trees in these neck of the woods, evergreens are much more abundant. However, the dozens of American Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis) that line the north side of the Oakville Crossroad are a reminder to me, as I drive to TWWIAGE on a cool, grey autumnal day, that even in California the seasons do indeed change.
Roll on winter!

I just found your blog. Some good content.
Why do the vines on the left look like they are shutting down at the same rate as the trees?

Welcome to Vinsanity, Unknown!!!
Are you a known unknown?
Well, the vines and trees probably are shutting down at the same rate, it's autumn and that's just what deciduous plants do. To the naked eye they are the same shades of yellow, orange and brown, with a little more red in the vines.
I must say, this year, there seems to be more red pigment left in the vines than I have ever noticed before. I have read that this is due to chlorophyll being readily broken down by cool temps...which we have had nothing but this year.
