Remember.

Raise a glass of your favourite vino, and remember the sacrifices that members of the armed forces, men and women, made in times of war so that we could enjoy freedom today.
Remember, freedom isn't free.

I felt bad when I forgot to ask my students to stand up in the class at 11.00, and be silent. Mind you, the day before, most of them were out smashing up Millbank!

Do you know the significance of 11.00 on the 11th of November aside from the Armistice?

Well, thank you Vinogirl.

Vietnam here--Air Force, although I never agreed with the premise of that war.

2B: Look after that cowboy hat :)

Affer: No, could you enlighten me please. (What grade did you give your miscreant charges for their riotous misconduct?)

Thomas: No, I thank you.

The 11th minute of the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month (am elften elften elf Uhr elf) is when Karneval starts in Germany. It was the one time and date that every German knew - so the Armistice had a chance of being recognised on-time, in time.

I expect Percy Weiper knows that.

Vinogirl, the more I read your posts, the more I respect you; I'm glad that you "feel" free as well, but sadly that freedom is being curbed as "hate" speech is becoming more a political tool rather than a method of justice.
