Well, the mercury had been fairly steady in the high 30s °F all autumn, until this morning when it took a nose-dive and reached 22° F. And that was recorded on the thermometer that is protected below Vinoland's deck: the lowest temperature recorded in Napa was 19° F, and that's quite chilly for here.
Brrr! Forget the wine, pass me the Cadbury Drinking Chocolate.

I'll say! Freezing here and of course no one wants to wear a jacket (it's the bay area!)
I feel so sorry for you Left Coasters...
Vinogirl, when does the cold temp become destructive?
ALW: I don't even own a heavy coat!
Tomasso: Got down to 20° the next day.
What sort of temps are you suffering through right now?
NHW: Dormant grapevines are extremely hardy, they can survive temps down to -40°C. Think of all that Reisling in the Rheingau. Soft, young green tissue is another matter.
VG:
We have been in the upper thirties for the past week, but tonight we dropped into the twenties.
Thus far, this has been a mild season for the region. Only an inch of snowfall at my place, and it all melted within two days.
Of course, I have just jinxed us by talking optimistically...
I cling to one thing: only 14 days remain for the winter solstice to arrive, at which time we start to gain a minute a day in daylight until June 21.
Tomasso: Everything beautifully white with frost when I got up this morning, so pretty, but it didn't stop me from thinking the same thing as you: now only 13 days to the solstice :)
